We’re about halfway through the year and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your greatest support. Time flies and I really appreciate every little thing many have done for me through these years. Please continue the support as without you guys, I will not be who I am today! My schedule has been very tight ever since I got back to Singapore. Pardon me if I have not been writing for past few weeks.

Its been a fruitful and meaningful trip as I did the filming of [[美食厨师男]] in Malaysia. It was such an amazing experience as I met some great people there.
The minute I got back here, I have been occupied with a Dance Musical Drama titled [[BUTTERFLY DREAMS 梦蝶。叠梦]]

It will be on Saturday, July 25, 2009.
There will be 2 time slots. 3:00pm & 8:00pm.
Location is at Victoria Theatre.

I sang [[Stand By Me]]. I had a great time as the audience were very enthusiastic and supportive! I believe that through these events, we can encourage a smoke-free environment.

Busy Busy Busy!
Eh. Busy is a good thing, right?

Recently, I acted in a drama [[一切完美2]] aka [[Perfect Cut 2]].
Here's the sneak preview, rough know what this drama is all about.

Personally, I felt the theme song 放了爱 by 郭美美 suits the drama show perfectly.

[[一切完美2]] aka [[Perfect Cut 2]] is a drama that has a big story synopsis which consists of many episodic synopsis in it.
The episode that I had a role in is titled [[Are You Too Old For Me?]].
The story goes... :
Mr Lim (Marcus Chin), a retiree, came to Win(Edmund Chen) for help. He wanted to look young so that he can match his new found girlfriend who came from the northern part of Asia . Win obliged.
Mr. Lim's son, Xiao Lin(that's me!) objected to his father's operation as he felt that the girl was out to cheat Mr. Lim's retirement fund.
Mr Lim insisted as he felt that his son was also up to his money. He would rather spend on someone who can bring him happiness.
After the operation, Mr Lim ate some “walnut” (the infamous sex drug) and brought his girlfriend to a hotel.
Something happened… Kelly(Michelle Chia) was upset with Mr. Lim's girlfriend and confronted her. To her surprise, she also has a story to tell…

I will appear from the last part of Ep 2.

Oh yes! Currently, I am at overseas doing some filming.
This show is titled [[美食厨师男]], a collaboration between Mediacorp's Singapore artistes & Mediacorp's Malaysia-based artistes.

Went for a gala recently.The movie is about IP Man, Bruce Lee's Mentor.Vincent was there with his wushu school students.Been such a long time since I saw him back then. Great catching-up. Haha! I was asked to sign autogragh on. Great movie to watch. Can you spot my autograph? =)

Caldecott Ball 2008

Back at 28th Oct, I went for the Caldecott Ball 2008, organized by Mediacorp. The venue was at The Stamford Raffles Ballroom at Swissotel.The hosts for the event is Glenn Ong & The Flying Dutchman.
Haha. Long hair and gorgeous gown, who's that? That's Kumar. I was at the same table with Ye Shi Pin，Liang Tian，Cynthia Koh，Yan Bing Liang，Zhu Hou Ren，Richard Low ，Ann Kok， Chen Tian Wen. Let's take one more again.

Let's see who is there besides those sitting with me. There is newbies who just joined Mediacorp like Zhang ZhenHuan, Yuan Shuai, Joshua Ang. Together at that table, there is Shawn and Michelle and some artiste managers, I guess.

Let's see another table.. Dawn, the forever-so-loving-sweet couple Priscelia Chan & Alan Tern, Felicia Chin, Elvin Ng, ChengXi, GePing, HuiFang, Nat Ho & Michelle Chong.
Brandon Wong, Desmond Tan, YaoDong, Jade Seah with those higher post peeps sitting together at this table. The Radio peeps were there too. This is the Yes933 gang.
Had loads of fun and chit-chatting there. Got to go. Is a long weekend, take the time to rest, to re-charge. Bye Bye.

Recently very busy till no time to update blog.
Shall relax a while by blogging about what I have been doing these days..

Went to a recording for a variety show called 护发动员101.

The hosts are Edmund Chen and Joey Swee.
This show will make you know your hair better through the funny game segments!
Though I lost at the end of the game, I know more info about my hair & had great fun in recording the show with Cassandra薛素珊 and Desmond 陈泂江.
The show was on tv last week, I think so.

From 14 November to 23 November, my time was spent at Suntec City Level 6. You guys must be thinking what I am doing there?
I am the host for almost all the stage activies at the BookFest Singapore.

& I was there as a guest too! To sign autograph on the Heirloom Recipes that I had a part in it with 董素华。

And 23rd November, Sunday was 【45载光芒• 8方贺台庆】.

Many artistes and those who are not in the entertainment industry all came together to meet up once again. Had a big gathering together.

Back to update some stuffs...

Some days back then I acted in a chinese drama serial called 叮当神探.
My role in this drama serial is called 孙继青 Sun Ji Qing.
Not really sure when I will appear out on this drama serial.
But I felt that this drama serial will be a exciting one.
Haha. Somehow the drama serial give me a feel of the famous Japanese Detective drama 金田一.
Haha.

Just did an interesting documentary for [星期二特写], about family values and Chinese tradition. The documentary featured two special Teocheow dishes passed down in my family.

Since my mother passed away last year August, we hardly cook at home. I don't have the time to get around to cook nor the luxury of a simple homecooked meal with my family. In the past, my family would sit down for a proper dinner at home, and it was probably during Chinese New Year's eve. I miss my mother's homecooked food very much. Something that money cannot buy.
If you were to ask my dad he will definitely tell you that my mum's best dish is Teocheow soya sauce duck, in dialat we called it "Teocheow Lor Ar". A traditional Teocheow dish passed down by my late grandma. When the producer asked me if I have any authentic family cuisines to introduce to the viewers, it was the first dish that I thought of. The teochew long life cake,"Peng Guah" is another dish. My auntie and cousins actually came over to help us prepare the traditional dishes. It was a heartwarming gathering.

My dad and auntie shared with me and my brother the family secret recipe. My brother was so camera shy! Ha ha...I kept teasing him that he can be a Mediacorp TV actor too! Dad, my aunt and cousins were all quite professional. Perhaps they too can join Star Search or Super Host!!! Ha ha...It was really fun working together as a team and family. We all had a fantastic time.

I also brought the entire film crew to a Teocheow opera troupe "Xin Xin Rong He Chao Ju Tuan" where we perfomed chinese opera. The cameraman was backstage capturing how the actors painted our faces and dorn thier costumes. I played the role of a warrior that day. My greatest passion till this day...

My late grandfather played the "Er Hoo" in the opera troupe. I remember my grandma would carry me in her arms to watch "Dok Dok Chang" when i was a year old. My dream was to become an opera artiste, to be that warrior fighting on the stage. I was so facinated by the actors, colourful costumes, meaningful stories, melodous music and the loud drum which sounds like "Dok Dok Chang"! Pehaps this facination opera runs in the family! I often wonder if I have kids next time, will they be opera fans too...

We spoke in Teocheow most of the time during the interview and it brought back fond memories of my childhood. All my relatives would gather at my three room flat at Telok Blangah. My grandma and my relatives will sit together, joke and laugh while they cooked. We would play at the corrridor, playing hide and seek or police and theif. We made so much noise. At times, we would also sneak into the kitchen to steal some food when the adults weren't paying attention.

There's a great difference between home-cooked food and the food we purchase from hawker centre or restaurant. Chinese always say that home cooked food are "爱心餐", which means food with love. Unlike westerners, where the parents will hug and kiss their children and say " I love you" to each other. Chinese families are quite conservative. Our parents and grandparents show their love for us through food.

I treasure those wonderful moments and will not hesitate to tell my grandma and mum they are the best cheifs!

Mid Authumn Festival

Oh yes! Did I mention that I did some volunteer work to entertain some grandparents and their families during Mid Authumn Festival.

See the crowd.. Caused it is raining, so there is not much people who went. But still the people filled up the hall with enthusiastic mood!

Cold Rock Ice Creamery

A good friend of mine, May Wern, recently opened up an Australian franchise in Singapore. It's located at Holland Village. I've known her for about 2 years now and she's really an inspiration to me. Like me, she's someone who belives in her dream and making it come true! (However, I think she's that teeny weeny bit more capable than me! =))When she was a kid, she dreamt of having her own ice cream parlour someday. She would create her own menu and make her parents & sibling place orders. She was the cashier, the order taker and the chef in her own little dream world.

Maybe a little introduction to what Cold Rock is about. It's the first ever concept in Singapore whereby you can actually mix your "mix-ins" into your ice cream. They actually mix and smash up your own flavourful creation on a frozen granite slab that is frozen to -20 degree celcius.
With the ability to create over 10 million combinations of ice cream by mixing chocolates, candies, cakes, fruits and nuts into your choice of super premium ice cream, Cold Rock has definitely taken ice cream to a new level.
My favourite combination is their Mango and Lemon Sorbet with Strawberries and Mangoes.

Behind the Painted Face.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated with Chinese opera. I remember I was only two years old when my grandma carried me in her arms and brought me to watch my first Teochew opera performance. I called it "Tok tok cheng" at that time cause that was usually the basic beat of the drums and gong.
My childhood dream was to be an opera actor. Although my parents opposed of it, that didn't stop me from persuing my dream. When I was 13, I even ran away from home during the school holidays to join an opera troupe in their performances. We travelled from places to places in Singapore and although living conditions was cramp and bad, that was actually one of the best experiences in my life.
Even till this day, I'm still someone who believes in having dreams. "Turning fantasy into reality". That's my motto in life!

<<宝贝父女兵>> Wrap Party

These are some photographs taken during our wrap BBQ party! We hardly have wrap parties for Channel 8 dramas these days. So, this was a really rare ocassion. Most of the producers, directors, assistant producers, production crew and actors were at a chalet and we had a whale of a time! Hope that the show (which will be shown some time in August on channel 8) will be a great success and we'll be able to rise to the occasion. Yeah!!!

Hey, really sorry that my blog hasn't been updated. Was really busy rehearsing for the play "Game Play" @ Esplanade. And after that I was back in camp for my army reservist.

Last week, my mum was hospitalized and I have to pull out from the Renci Charity show to take care of her. I'm glad that she's recovering now. She was just discharged from the hospital. :-)

Another apology for those of you who expected me to be in the show. But do support the Renci Charity show this coming Sunday.

Anyway, next month I'll be involved in a new Chinese Drama. So you will see me on TV soon again! Watch out for it and I will keep you updated with my shooting escapade next. ;-)

Recently, I was invited by the National Environment Agency to conduct "Anti- Littering" acting workshop for various schools. Basically, I was guiding the students to perform a skit on "Anti-Littering".

So, to some of you here who attended the workshop, I really like your energy and enjoy your company! I had a lot of fun there and it reminds me of my own performances during my school days! haha!

I will be hosting an event "Passion" for the National Arts Council tomorrow (17 Mar) from 4.30pm at the open fields next to Woodlands MRT station. So, if you are not doing anything on Saturdy, do come and have some fun there. :-)
